Configuring and Taking the Go/No-Go

Written by CJ Teeter

Overview

Shred's Go/No-Go is a structured pursuit qualification tool built directly into your workflow. It helps your team evaluate whether to pursue an opportunity — using scored questions, priority weightings, and outcome thresholds that reflect your firm's criteria.

There are two parts to the Go/No-Go in Shred:

  • Configuration (Admins only) — Set up the survey in System Settings: add your own questions, assign weightings, and define your scoring bands.

  • Taking the survey (all users) — Complete the Go/No-Go on a Pursuit and see your scored outcome.

For Admins: Configuring the Go/No-Go

Shred Admins can customize the Go/No-Go survey from System Settings. Changes you make here apply to all new Pursuits going forward. Active Pursuits in progress are not affected — their survey version is locked once started.

How to configure your Go/No-Go

  1. Log in to Shred as an Admin and go to System Settings.

  2. Select the Go/No-Go tab.

  3. You'll see the default question set, organized into sections. From here you can:

    • Add, edit, or delete questions within any section

    • Reorder questions and sections using drag-and-drop

    • Set question type — Yes/No, or a range-based scale with custom labels

    • Assign priority weighting — High, Medium, or Low — to scored questions. This controls how much each question influences the overall score.

  4. To add a new section, click Add section, give it a name, and optionally add a description.

  5. To adjust scoring bands, scroll to the Score Banding section. Set your own thresholds for No Go, Discuss Further, and Go. The bands update automatically as you enter values.

  6. When you're ready, click Save changes. You can Preview the survey before publishing, or click Publish to make it live for your team.

Things to know before you configure

  • Only Shred Admins can access the Go/No-Go configuration in System Settings.

  • There are no automated notifications when you publish a new survey version — communicate changes to your team directly.

  • Shred's default questions are pre-loaded in all instances and can be edited, reordered, or deleted. If you want to start fresh, delete the default sections and build your own.

  • There is no undo/redo for Go/No-Go responses in this version.

For All Users: Taking the Go/No-Go

How to complete a Go/No-Go on a Pursuit

  1. Open an RFP from the Pursuits tab.

  2. In the top-right corner, click the Go/No-Go button.

  3. Answer the questions. You can save progress and return at any time — your answers are preserved.

  4. When finished, click Find out results.

  5. You'll see a Results Preview showing your scored outcome (Go, Discuss Further, or No Go) and a breakdown of how the score was calculated.

Returning to a completed Go/No-Go

After completing a Go/No-Go analysis, you can return to the Pursuit anytime and click the Go/No-Go icon to:

  • View & explain results — see your score breakdown

  • Clear analysis — reset and start fresh

  • Continue analysis — pick up where you left off if you haven't finished

Things to know

  • The Go/No-Go is a decision-support tool — it gives your team a consistent, scored basis for the pursuit conversation. It's not designed to replace judgment, but to inform it.

  • If an Admin publishes a new survey version while you're mid-survey on a Pursuit, your active survey is not affected. The version is locked when you start.

  • If your firm's questions or scoring bands look different from a colleague's, your Admin may have updated the survey since your Pursuit was created. New configurations apply to new Pursuits only.
