Overview
Shred uses a few key terms that may be new to you. This glossary explains the most important ones so you and your team have a shared understanding from day one.
Key Terms
Proposal Library: Your archive of past proposals, stored as PDFs.
Shredding (RFP Shredding): The process of uploading an RFP and letting Shred.ai extract compliance criteria as well as client challenges and goals.
Pursuits: Workspaces for active opportunities. In a Pursuit, you can upload and shred an RFP to extract requirements, client goals, and project insights; attach relevant content from your OpenAsset system; and draft your response using Proposal Studio. Proposal Studio helps turn requirements into a structured outline, pull in relevant content, and generate a first draft you can export for SME review and refinement.
Proposal Studio: A drafting workspace within a Pursuit that helps you move from requirements to a review-ready draft. Proposal Studio organizes extracted RFP criteria into a structured outline, surfaces relevant content from past proposals, and allows you to build and export a first draft for collaboration and refinement.
Search (Dual Search): A single search bar that returns two types of results:
AI Overview Summary – a narrative-style summary of related content.
Full-Text Search – exact matches of your term in past proposals.
AI Chat: A conversational interface that helps you explore, validate, and refine content. AI Chat allows you to ask natural-language questions about your proposals or a specific RFP, generate or refine narrative content, and—if you use the OpenAsset DAM system—chat with up-to-date OpenAsset data such as project details, employee experience, resumes, and firm assets.
Human-in-the-Loop Verification: A workflow that lets you confirm extracted RFP requirements by highlighting them in the source file.
OpenAsset Integration: Connection to your firm’s project and employee database. Sync projects, resumes, and images directly into pursuits.
Proposal Status: Each proposal includes the proposal name, client name, and submission date. Additionally, each proposal is tagged as Pending, Won, or Lost. This helps track outcomes and improves future pursuit analysis.
Duplicate Check: Shred.ai automatically prevents you from uploading the same proposal twice.
