Overview
Uploading duplicate proposals clutters your library and makes search less effective. Shred.ai helps prevent this by checking for duplicates during upload.
How Duplicate Detection Works
Shred.ai checks whether the file contents are identical to a previously uploaded proposal. If the file is a 100% match, Shred.ai will stop the upload.
You’ll see an error message: “This proposal already exists in your library.”
The duplicate file will not be stored.
* Note: The system does not check filenames. If you change even one pixel, page, or character inside the file, it will be treated as a new, non-duplicate upload.
Tips & Best Practices
Before uploading, organize proposals on your drive to reduce duplicates.
Use consistent file naming conventions (e.g., Client_Project_Date.pdf). Note you can change the Proposal Name in Shred.ai. After it’s been uploaded by clicking on the Vertical 3-dotted options menu on a specific proposal, clicking “Edit Proposal,” then changing the Proposal Name.
If you need to replace or update a proposal, edit the existing one instead of re-uploading.
